How to - Perform an offsite backup restoration

Draft

INFO

This process can also be applied in the event of a file not being recoverable via local restoration, however implicit approval for the service is not available for such cases

1

Gather information relevant to the request

Key information for requesting the backup includes:

  • Date of the merge
  • Patients merged
  • Site where files were merged
2

Contact Cybersecure to arrange a restoration

Email , and request a restoration of a backup

Include the below details:

  • Date before the merge occurred
  • Time of day (as late as possible)
  • Site name
  • You require access to restore files from within an SQL database

Cybersecure may request further information

If not, you should hear back shortly with details on how to access the machine

3

Access the machine and retrieve the file(s)

Cybersecure should provide you with the means to remotely connect to a VM

This VM should be a snapshot of the site from the specified date/time

You can use the password from that time to access the VM, and from there access BP

Log into BP and locate the patient files for both patients that were merged

Export them to the desktop, then copy them back to your machine

4

Provide the site with the files

Attach the patient files to an email from helpdesk to the site

It is their responsibility to import and correctly adjust the files to reflect any changes since the date of the merge

Ensure that you include the date that the file was retreived from, so the site can backdate any appointments post-merge
